I Wish-I Was A Cloud

I Wish-I Was A Cloud

-Dr. Mustafa Kamal

I wish I was a cloud, floating wild in the wind,

High above the world, laden with rain, so kind.

Dance with the stars, I would, on a moonlight night,

Praise for humanity down below, so peaceful and quiet.

I wish I was a lush green rainforest, young and bright,

Laden with fruits and flowers, every kind in sight.

Rainbow of butterflies and bumble bees of many kinds,

Joyous little girl dance and say, oh mama see what I find.

I wish I was a rainbow, so colorful and bright,

Arch the garden and end beyond one’s sight.

Children would love me, men and women alike,

The poet will call, beyond the rainbow I might ride.

I wish I was an albatross, flying over the waves,

Wind under my wings, dancing with the whales.

Thousand miles to glide, there are no barriers to bind,

Dolphins and Salmons and surely more, I will find.

I wish I was a star, with twinkles in my sight,

Beyond the Milky Way, canopy far away, I might.

Like pearls and rubies, adoring a palace in Heaven,

To bring happiness and joy to the believers, I am given.

But a human I am, among the best of God’s creations,

Endowed with inner knowledge, eager for participation.

With awe of His creation, I lower my head in admiration.
